Week 17 - Goblin King: Labyrinth Quilt and Stitch Along

"Well, the only way out of here is to try one of these doors!"
"One of them leads to the castle at the end of the labyrinth, and the other one leads to.."
"Ba-baba-BOOM!"
"Certain DEATH!"

As you can see, this week's character as we travel ever closer to the end of the labyrinth to the is the enigmatic Four Guards.

Lest We Forget...

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

Today, on ANZAC Day, I'm taking a moment to pause and recognise all those men and women who are currently serving in our armed forces and those that came before them.

In honour of the day I've designed a paper-pieced pattern titled "ANZAC: Dawn Service".

Block 9: NQC Quilt Block Challenge

It's finally here - the last week of blocks for this challenge!

Aside from a bit of whining mid-way through, I made it through all nine blocks without too much drama.

So here they are, all nine finished blocks.

I'm actually looking forward to the quilt top assembly.

Week 16 - Goblin King: Labyrinth Quilt and Stitch Along

What is the point of a Goblin King if there aren't goblins to rule over?

Until now we've only seen a couple of the goblins of the Labyrinth. We know they're hiding in there somewhere so this week its time to reveal some more.

Week 15 - Goblin King: Labyrinth Quilt and Stitch Along

What's the matter, my dear, don't you like your toys?

Another of what I consider to be one of the darker characters this week as we continue on this little quilt and stitch along journey through the Labyrinth. It is of course, the Junk Lady.

This week on Fandom in Stitches we again have a choice between paper pieced or embroidery options. The paper-pieced option for this week has been designed by Kylie Pecarina. The embroidery option for this week is a little different than previous weeks - there are two different designs.

Mel Moore has designed a great image, which I had volunteered to test.

Week 15: Junk Lady - mono version

My stitching of Mel's design turned out great, but I really struggled with this one. The design is a wonderful image of a wizened old crone... but... without all the junk it just didn't scream 'Junk Lady' to me.

So I decided have a go at doing my own embroidery design for the this week. The lady's face in my design is nowhere near as good as Mel's version, but the focus is more on the junk.

I was planning to use this design only for my own quilts initially and then submit the design to Fandom in Stitches for after the stitch along as an additional/supplemental pattern. It seems however that my alternative offering has become part of the main event so I get to share it here now too.

All the patterns are available to download now from fandominstitches.com

Block 7: NQC Quilt Block Challenge

We're getting there! Week 7 is here, only 2 blocks left after this one.

Both versions of this week's block came together pretty easy - straight strips and half square triangles, easy peasy.
